I know I post a lot of videos...
But since I'm listening to this on my iPod, I just wondered who else thinks this is just the most romantic thing you've ever heard? Well, not MOST romantic, but it should really rank up there.
Please tell me there's someone out there who loves this movie as much as I do?

My only favorite thing about sundays...
Is spending time with my brother when he comes down to visit. Today, our parents went out of town, so he hung around for about an hour and he showed me some of the West Coast Swing moves, we did a little "Beat It" dancing (we so cool), and he showed me pictures and videos online. This one stuck with me, cause I don't watch Star Trek, but I think it's complete genius:

Top 8 Movies of the year (Plus disappointments)
NOTE: These are in no particular order.
-Where the Wild Things Are
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this movie, I will still blubber like a baby, perhaps as a way of mourning my lost childhood. This is the ultimate fantasy movie. I wouldn't say it's for kids, because it does get quiet and its rather deep, so for the adults in the audience (as least for me), it was a way of reliving my past childhood that basically just disappeared from sight. Plus the line "I'll eat you up; I love you so" still makes my heart wrench and gives me goosebumps. I take a different meaning out of it, I suppose. I think it's beautiful.
-Pirate Radio
Just a fun, fun movie with a kick ass cast and soundtrack. It contains 2/3 of the main IT Crowd cast, so that was what really made my mom and I want to go see it. It may have seemed a bit too long, but in my opinion, it was really just worth it to see the shenanigans they were getting into next.
-Inglorious Basterds
A fucking Tarantino masterpiece. This is one of the only movies I saw 3 times in theaters (and watched once online haha). I can't wait to get my Christmas money, cause this will be in my DVD collection before the end of the weekend, I can promise you that haha. I know a lot of people dislike it because of all the dialogue, but if you really pay attention to all of it, it really is important to the whole story. Plus the ending and all of the action sequences absolutely makes up for it.
-Zombieland
ZOMBIELAND! A good movie to feed this years' obsession of zombies; just a good old fashioned zombie killing flick. Plus the cameo by (dfdsfgrbs) is fucking genius. Didn't see it coming at ALL lol. This is another one I could watch over and over again, and I'm sure I will once it's released on DVD.
-Taking Woodstock
If you already were or got into the Woodstock spirit this year (or of course prior), then this movie might have been on your list. It's definitely a movie thats better the second time. It IS a little long, mind you, and they dont really show what happened at Woodstock (other than the acid orgy...that was pretty sweet...Oh, and the mud slide), but for me it was still interesting nonetheless. I thought all of the characters were interesting in their own ways (the guy who played Michael Lang was the cutest thing I've ever seen hahaha), the actors who played his parents were absolutely hilarious, and it just became a really fun film to watch. I suggest renting it at least once...then watch it twice haha.
-Last Chance Harvey
I hadn't gotten the chance to catch this in theaters, but I rented it and instantly fell in love with it. First of all- Emma Thompson is my favorite ever ever ever. Second, the whole love story, while a little strange and different (which I guess is what makes it great), is heartwrenching and utterly sweet. I say if you're just looking for a sweet (and a little sad) romantic movie, this is one to definitely pick up.
-The Hangover
Of course, I had to choose the bro movie of the year lol. Full of laughs, a fuckingly awesome cast, this movie really just made the summer. Unfortunately, personally for me, it was just a movie I watched once or twice and am really not sure I wanna watch it again. Not saying it isn't good, but it's not a repeat type of movie. Only for potheads and frat parties.
-Away We Go
IN LOVE IN LOVE IN LOVE with this movie. Can't you tell? Near the end it did drag, but that was the only bad thing I could say about it. You would never think that Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski could work so well together, but it was remarkable. Just another classic indie love story. Personally, I think it's still underrated.
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
Funny People
BIGGEST disappointment of the year. I just...I really don't wanna even talk about it. I waited, I think 6 or 7 months for that movie to come out, got myself alll hyped up for it, then laughed maybe 3 times, and after about the 50 minute mark, it literally just ran out of plot and I was antsing to just get up and leave. It felt like it was about 4 hours long, honestly. Just...UGHHHHH.
Observe and Report
A less cuter version of Paul Blart, with more swearing and annoying characters. Did not want.
Sunshine Cleaning
I really looked forward to this movie and thought it was gonna be great and funny and incredibly interesting, but mostly when I watched it I just felt sad and bored. I hate to admit it, because I LOVE Emily Blunt and Amy Adams (and of course, Alan Arkin), but I guess it just wasn't for me.

Off to eat an amazing burrito :D
Just wanted to say-Merry Christmas! I hope everyone has a wonderful season and day tomorrow. I wish you all the happiness in the world. With that, I bring what I think is one of the best Christmas songs this year. Just give it even a small listen- it's one of the few songs that makes me feel better about the holidays....
RIP Jasmine...

A little insight to my job...
IN regular news, today at work was fucking hell on earth. I seriously do NOT belong at a preschool. Not sure I belong anywhere at this point, but I know definitely not there. I had a summer flashback when this massive 4th grader started pummeling this kid cause he hit her little brother. The kid ended up running out of the gated area so I ran out after him (cause I seriously feel like I'm the only one that pays attention anymore) and found him hiding in the bushes. Looking at the way he was sitting and crying, I could already tell he got picked on a lot (he's quite chubby). So I finally talked him into telling me what happened (I hadn't known why he hit the boy before) and tried to talk him back in, but then of course Judy comes strolling over and "saves the day". Specially after the summer thing, it'd be nice to be acknowledged at least once for doing that and not just letting the kid go off on his own, which is what I'm sure the other teachers would have done. God, I really am more furious about this than I thought. Then to top off the day, the children seem to enjoy ignoring me when I ask them to do something like pick up their own shit for a change. I don't ever remember being that disrespectful and rude at ANY age. Well I know if I did, I prolly would've ended up getting the belt across my ass like the way my dad threatened my whole childhood. Tell you, some of those kids need some sort of discipline in their lives- and not by us. Obviously I'm not talking about abuse (what kind of fucked up teacher would I be?) but they need to be taught right from wrong, and just by trying to teach it to them doesn't seem to be doing the trick. Anyway. I hope tomorrow's better. Probably won't be, because I'm stuck with the older kids all day....blurg.

Any reggae fans out there?
I'm a HUGE fan of cover songs...as long as they're good. I was thinking of that jewelry commercial where they play the song "I Got You Babe" in the background, so it made me remember the cover of the original I heard actually not long ago, but fell in love with because it's reggae, it's UB40, and their voices are so in-sync. I couldn't embed the actual music video, so this is just the song:

I rarely post twice in one day
But, I forgot that I found this quote earlier today and I was appalled at how perfect it described me:

I'm a huge fan of The Mighty Boosh, so while searching through old tour photos on Flickr, I came across this. It describes my personality exactly. I often find myself living more in my head and through shows like the Might Boosh in order to escape the harsh truth of my reality- it fucking sucks. I hope if you come across this blog and you read this quote, just remember that sometimes, it's okay to escape reality for a little while...just don't do it everyday, like me or Mr. Fielding haha.
3 months and counting...
My brother's wedding is in 3 months. First (and hopefully last) wedding I've ever been to. His fiance still hasn't asked me to be a bridesmaid, which I thought was customary. So, at least I have something to hold over her head for the rest of her life :)
They've been taking swing dancing lessons. But not the throw around, side-to-side cool stuff, it's West Coast, which I can't tell if it's really dancing or just a lot of fancy footwork. You decipher for yourself :
They may be giving us private lessons so we can learn it to dance at the wedding, but what's the point? I'm pretty sure my plus one is bailing on me, so it'll be sitting in a corner eating for me at the reception. I hope to bring more interesting things to my blog as time goes on, because I'm scanning through other people's blogs and they're all so interesting and have so much going on with their lives...right now, I have nothing. Perhaps though, that will be another blog for another time.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I did a twisty
I did this for my insanejournal and livejournal, so I thought since it's my favorite list out there, I wanted to put it here. So, here is my Top 25 Most Played from my iTunes:
1. The Cover of Rolling Stone by Shel Silverstein & Dr. Hook?? (29 plays)
This song is like it's day's "Rockstar." It's undeniable catchy and fun to sing, which is why when I first heard it, it went on repeat.
2. Coming into Los Angeles by Arlo Guthrie. (26 plays)
I went through a massive Woodstock phase a few months ago (still kind of am...) and since Arlo Guthrie sometimes lives in my town (how awesome is that?!) I decided to give some of his other music a listen and this one stuck with me. Another catchy one; I love the tempo of it.
3. You Better You Bet by The Who (20 plays)
What's funny about this song is that I cannot for the life of me figure out where I first heard it, but it's become one of my favorite songs. Of course the drumming sucks because there's no fucking awesome Keith Moon backing them at this point, but let's not hold that against the song ;)
4. Haven't Met you Yet by Michael Buble (18 plays)
I don't even have to explain this one. If you've listened to it, you know it kicks ass.
5. Joey by Concrete Blonde (17 plays)
Hello...how is this song not amazing? Lately, I'm going through that phase where I wanna listen to it and sing it all the time, so that explains the extreme climb up the list. Plus, how awesome is a lady lead singer AND bassist? It's fucking cool to me.
6. I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag by Country Joe McDonald (17 plays)
Again, this was during my Woodstock phase and I was just blown away with the fact that this song rings true in today's society...how scary is that? Just listen to the lyrics and it makes a lot of sense.
7. The L Word Theme Song by Betty (16 plays)
It's short, and when I first started watching The L Word, I was so into the theme song. It just kind of sits there on my list now, but if I come across it on shuffle I'll listen to it all the way through cause it's a minute long. Ugh.
8. Shirley by Billy Bragg (16 plays)
I know its really called "Greetings to the New Brunette", but Shirley is much easier haha. Everything is right about this song. When you get past his accent (which to me, is charming) and down to the lyrics, it's really beautiful and heartfelt and sweet. I know that's a horrible video cause you can't really hear the beauty of the guitar behind his voice, so if you can, try to hear the album version.
9. Tundra Rap from The Mighty Boosh (15 plays)
Ummm again it's a short song, plus it's the Boosh, plus Noel wearing a Joan Jett jumpsuit. Amazing.
10. The Sex has made me Stupid by Robots in Disguise (15 plays)
Going hand in hand with the Boosh, I of course discovered RiD around the same time. The title of the song drew me in and I started getting into the Electro stuff...and I still regret not doing my hair like Sue Denim last summer :( damn.
11. Barbara Ann covered by The Who (15 plays)
I love the original song by the Beach Boys, but the fact that it's The Who makes it....a billion times better haha.
12. Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship (13 plays)
This song was definitely my summer jam haha. It's fallen down the list, but I overlistened to it, so I'm actually happy to never hear it again!
13. The Lovecats by The Cure (13 plays)
How fucking catchy is this song? And Robert Smith is ever so adorable in this video hahaha.
14. How Can I Refuse? by Heart (13 plays)
Heard this one day on VH1 Classic and decided I had to have it on my iPod, so I of course put it on there, listened to it for days, then never wanted to hear it again haha.
15. So Long, Dearie from Hello, Dolly! (13 plays)
I listened to this soundtrack quite often after I saw the movie and realized this song caught my ear and that I could choreograph to it. That always makes me happy, so it stuck.
16. Eternal Flame by The Bangles (12 plays)
When I used to hear this song, I laughed at it. However, listening to it all the way through made me love it, and I fell in love with her voice. Ugh, it's gorgeous. I guess in a way it's one of my guilty pleasure songs.
17. The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss) by Cher (12 plays)
How CATCHY is this one, too?! Never been a big fan of Cher, but this song makes me wanna like her. First heard this in the movie Soldier's Girl, where I watched an adorable Lee Pace dance around a long blonde wig :D
18. I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues by Elton John (12 plays)
I've listened to this song WAY more times, mainly in my car on CDs though. This song will always hold a special place in my heart for someone, and it's a song I can fall in love with over and over again.
19. Sugar Magnolia by Grateful Dead (12 plays)
I try not to listen to this song too much, but the truth is that everytime I do, I just get this incredibly calming sensation, and it's really nice. Same with Friend of the Devil, but for some reason, this one made it to my list.
20. Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore (12 plays)
I abused the shit out of this song when I first heard it. I'm not really sure what it is about this song I love...it must just be a mixture of the lyrics and the style of the song, but now that I left it alone for a couple of weeks, I'm ready to jump back in and listening to it.
21. Say Say Say by Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney (12 plays)
This was one of those songs I felt myself getting obsessed with, unforunately it was right after MJ's death and I first saw the video on TV and thought it was adorable, so I decided to get the song. It's slowly falling down my list as you can see, because I overdid it ...again.
22. Angel Eyes by Ella Fitzgerald (11 plays)
I am in LOVE with Ella's voice, and have been for the last few years. This song resurfaced after my deep devotion to "Black Coffee" and topped the list instead. Enjoy it, please!
23. My Heart is the Bums on the Street by Marah (11 plays)
Hopefully you can hear the video well, because this song is really heartfelt and interesting with kick ass lyrics. I heard it, I believe first in the movie Fever Pitch and haven't been able to forget about it the last 2-3 years.
24. The Tears by Robots in Disguise (11 plays)
Another RiD song, but this one has more of a modern feel to it, so it's completely lost in the Electro genre. Plus the lyrics, to me, are fascinating haha.
25. Invisible by Alexa Ray Joel (10 Plays)
I've been listening to and following Alexa Ray since I think early 2007 or late 2006. I can confidently say I have loved ALL of her music and even bought her CD Sketches and a shirt from her website. I was heartbroken by the whole mess that she tried to "commit suicide", and that is what led me to listen to this song on repeat that day. I really began to feel her pain through the song. She has a bubbly exterior, but you can tell she's hiding deep emotions and it's sad, because she really is an amazingly talented person and just seems like a wonderful human being.

This song is like it's day's "Rockstar." It's undeniable catchy and fun to sing, which is why when I first heard it, it went on repeat.

Day 2 of blogging...what's next?
It's one of those days, you know? I just want to bake. I have 3 squares of semi-sweet chocolate and need some ideas about what to do with them. I thought about just melting them and drizzling them over sugar cookies or even Spritz, but I'm not sure the family would like that. I could fold it into a mixture of some sort....you can't make icing or frosting with melted chocolate, can you? I don't know.
I was hoping my friend Catherine was coming over and we were gonna back cookies and all kinds of treats today, but it's really not looking like it. Bummer. Why can't people just say what they're really thinking? If you don't want to hang out, just say it, don't cancel the day of, 2 hours before we're going to. Watch, after all this ranting she's gonna end up coming over. It's probably best she doesn't. I'm not really in the mood for communication with other peers today.
Anyway, that's it for my ranting and raving. Although I was sure that was what blogs were for? Hm....

Introduction
Hello,
Please welcome me to the wonderful world of blogging! Not gonna lie...not sure why I decided to create my own blog. A way to pass the time perhaps? I have a lot of, of course inner thoughts, but who doesn't?
Lately, because of my deep love...no, more like obsession with movies, I am trying my hand at writing movie reviews. I haven't written a lot, no...but I hope to as soon as I find myself back at the movies (I am taking a hiatus due to the holidays and increased spending...you understand). It's been out for probably about a month now, but I hope to post my review of Pirate Radio maybe tomorrow.
On top of that, I am working on a "top favorite movies" list, which is always a work in progress. As I have mentioned, I am a deeply obsessed movie fan, so right now my "favorites" range around 100 movies. I will post that as well, and will always be open to taking suggestions on what to see and what not to see.
Hopefully stuff I post in here will be more interesting and less wordy than this intro...so I will wrap it up now.
Sincerely yours,
Niki D.
